Oil Based Paint Over Waterbased Paint
Q: Can I use an oil based paint on top of a waterbased paint?

A: Yes, provided you have a clean, lightly abraded surface. Clean the surface by scrubbing with mineral spirits or TSP on fine nylon abrasive pads. The solvent will remove any surface grease or oil while the pad lightly abrades the surface.
