Painting Fiberglass Front Door and Sidelights
Q: Several years ago we purchased a fiberglass front door and sidelights. Since then I have refinished both twice. Now I just want to paint it and be done with it. How do I prepare the fiberglass for painting?

A: To prepare any surface for painting, scrub it clean with mineral spirits or TSP on nylon abrasive pads and wipe with paper shop towels. The next step depends on what paint you choose. In most cases you’d seal with an exterior primer followed by exterior trim paint, but Rust-Oleum recently came out with a new exterior (and interior) paint called Universal that does not require primer.
