Sealing Painted Bathroom Walls and Shower
Q: I’m installing a bathroom in my pirate themed basement. I want to paint the interior, including the shower, to look like a ship interior. How can I seal the painted walls and shower from the hot water?

A: You did not say what the walls and shower are made from, and that has a lot to do with what finish goes on them. For instance, my answer will be different if we are talking about solid wood panels than if we are talking about a sheet of molded plastic as the shower wall. The simple answer, though, is that most exterior paints will do just fine, as long as you use an exterior primer that will bond to the substrate. The primer and preparation may well be your most difficult decision.
